Anyone interested in beer will appreciate
the fact that the traditional cask ales brewed at
Highgate have hardly changed since James Fletcher
first opened the brewery in 1898.
Highgate beers
are as good today as they were when they quenched the prodigious
thirsts of workers in the Black Country's famous foundries. To
maintain this traditional taste and character is a source of
pride for the Highgate Brewery Company.
The Highgate Brewery
has always been run by people dedicated to brewing good quality cask
beers. In the 1960's, when Bass first became involved at Highgate they
provided the resources needed to keep the brewery and it's beers alive.
One example was the introduction of quality control
systems to ensure the consistency of Highgate beers.
Since
then the brewery has continued to produce regional ales of
distinctive character, and has gone on to win international
awards and recognition for probably the best mild in the
world.
“I am sure that I am just one of many people within the brewing industry who wishes the company continued success for many years to come.”
